new Exacta pedal in da house! nice!

Postby gonzo-x » Tue Mar 19, 2019 7:02 pm

so, i have a katrina relief DDSS (which is the cornerstone of my distorted tone) and a Tone Press, which i use for both dirty and clean tones.

i needed a new voice,
hence,
the EXACTA!

typical solid build, my girlfriend said "What's up with those colors?!"

LOL

yep, i like it.

very small form factor, and i'm still playing with the different controls and settings,
so i'm not totally versed yet.

don't care what it compares to......
but the quality of the sound it makes is top shelf.

I thought i'd just use it as a 'trick' pedal, to throw my otherwise dialed-in little universe of noise into full dr demento....

but i found that with certain settings, and stacked with certain other pedals,
i've actually found a new solo voice!

i think i like the classic Triangle sound Scooped mids setting best, with the right toggle setting to the right, fat and tight like the manual says.

if i put the pedal at the END of the chain (just the opposite of the way i've always done before), then what my vibe pedal does to it, and especially my wah, is just amazing.
rather than a heavy movement of the univibe, or the wide sweep of the wah,
i get this really vocal quality, that i really did not expect.
a nice surprise.

if i push the pedal with my fulltone fatboost,
wow.
there is the formula.

it's as if a layer of clarity is added on top of the thick midrange that the fuzz creates.
there is no other way for me to get that sound out of my rig, except with that particular setup.

i'm still experimenting,
and i will certainly post clips soon.

i'm loving this pedal.
thanks dave!

Dave,
here's a clip of the Exacta in action.

song is called "Michael's House (a slight return)

the solos feature the exacta in 3 different configs,
using all three left toggle settings; first solo is the the triangle setting, my favorite.
-the sludge toggle set far right on all three solos

driving a slightly cruncy mesa boogie mark 2b thru a closed back vintage 112 with an old celestion G12C-30.

so, as i mentioned before,
when i bought the Exacta, and wanted to run it thru it's paces...
this is the version of that session.

with those 3 different fuzz circuits in it,
i had to record all 3 for the 3 main solo sections.

the first solo, is my favorite tone... the 3rd solo has the thin razor-sharp tone that starts at around 1:32 has my least favorite of the three, but that one has that ripping short lead on it! LOL...

actually, the ripping solo starts at 2:33, and i can't remember which fuzz circuit i used on that one... i think the same as the first.

at that solo, it's a stacked up sound... the fuzz is pushed by fulltone fatboost III, and running thru a budda wah AND a fulltone mini deja vibe...
