Hi,

If this has already been answered sorry for the dupe, had trouble searching with four letters...

If I use the Barb EQ with an amp with volume/tone controls, where should the amp tone be set for best response? Thanks! 8-)

Ah, got it, sorry for the mis-step. I'm away from my equipment now but will link a clip as soon as I can. Thanks. My original post was aimed at the Gibson GA-5T. It has 6AQ5 power tubes and seems to stay clean all the way up and is a bit bright. I was hoping to use the Barb EQ to tame that and also push the amp a little more.

Which amp? Yoru Gibsons or the Princeton? If the Barb EQ is being used to add the flavor of a tone stack, then you get the tone control on the amp to the most balanced point. Try to avoid setting the amp so the mids are cut, treble shrill/dull or the bass is booming mitigated. Basically, no extremes to start.

Thanks for this information Dave. I'm very happy with the sound of the Princeton. The Gibson amps are their own thing. This Skylark is in a wider/slim cabinet compared to the Princeton (as I remember), so that may also affect how I hear it. I'll play around with it and the Barb EQ once I get back, then post a clip.
