Small Fry at 4v -- coooool

Hey Barberinos,

So I just took a roundabout way of discovering that running my Small Fry on a low-power source -- either with a near-expired battery or on my PP2+'s "sag" setting -- reveals a suuuuuper cool, spitty, saggy, almost fuzzy tone. Never tried this before. It's timely for me because I've been looking for a tone like this for a while... now I have to reconfigure my board so I can run it this way all the time. Love it.

Anyone else try this with the SF or any other pedals? Am I just discovering something that everyone else has been taking for granted for years?

Peace!

EHX has had a couple OD/Dist units capable of varying the voltage. I have the Germanium 4 Big Muff and like the tones I can get out of it. The voltage thing, to me, is a bit of a one-trick pony. The BIAS control, though, gives a wide-range of available tones.

Yeah, I have been hearing about the bias control on some of these fuzzes. I don't know much about electrical, er, stuff in this regard, but I'm guessing that these concepts are similar in terms of varying the voltage at some point in the circuit to create this effect. The bias control being variable of course.

I guess I sort of lucked out with the voltage thing in this case, and got a sound that I really like with the Small Fry. I tried it with the Direct Drive and it was unusable.
