Dear MR B
no sitting on the fence now!
what in your opinion is the better platform for your pedals....a nice clean loud amp ( like a non master twin) or a just cooking amp like a well set Marshall?

That's easy! I have never made any secret of the fact that I design into dynamic amps that are set perfectly clean (favorite is the Barber Echelon of course!). That said, once a pedal can deal with a squeaky-clean amp, then the amps set to break-up are a gravy.

If I was gigging I'd have a Barber amp set to clean and dynamic with the sweet EQ selected. If I was renting back-line it would be Fenders. Deluxe reverb using the normal channel, Super reverb with bright switch off and Ragin Cajuns installed, Vibrolux would be normal channel with Ragin Cajuns, Twin with Texas Heats and again no bright switches. We have some Class 5's at the B-custom shop and Barber shop, we set them bass full up, mids gone, treble around 3 o clock and volume low and clean, I'd put a Linden before it to use it live to add some bass and a little presence in a cafe.

thanks Dave

since ALL my ODs are Barbers I thought it would make sense to ask you direct :)

do you think a fender twin 65 reverb would go well with the pedals?

for choice I have.. BU twin, unLTD twin, and LTD twin....... CDD and gain changer

I have yet to buy a gigging amp and was thinking of the lo input on a Marshall JCM 800 4010 or the 65 twin reverb combo

thanks again bro :)

I've always liked Barber pedals into a nice clean amp just before the edge of break up, I get a nice punchy clean tone out of my modified Blues Junior III the Gain Changer and Compact Direct Drive sounds great.

the Emery Sound Micro Baby is a superb platform for Barber pedals.... the Super and Stage Babies might be as well.
