Thought you were comparing the DDSS to the DD. ;) I was asking about the old version of the DDSS and the new one.

Yes... again it's got more control inside. The tone is the same pedal.. I have a original as well.. But now I use the new one for the added controls.

This feels very different from the Direct Drive I was using it sounds like it has more gain bigger bass ...just bigger everything but I'msure thats due to all the controls under the hood but what ever it is its great and such a classy looking pedal .....great job Dave and Ronni!

Check this one out if you can or better yet buy one I highly recommend this one!

I have to agree, the B-Custom SS feels and sounds different than the standard Direct Drives that I've had. I know it's the basically the same pedal (same basic sound), but the internals on the SS seem to give it more juice...oomph, or something, anyway. It's fantastic.

Having mid control, note shape and a variable harmonics control inside. instead of just on/off... doesn't hurt.

Can't remember if it says in the manual.. I didn't write it.

But how I set them when testing and when they leave..

Note shape (left white) 3:00
Harmonics (left grey) 1:00 sometimes close to 2:00
Bass (center orange) 2:00
Mids (white) 12:00
Pres (right blue) 1:00

Over the past few years, I've went through a who's who list of boutique and mass produced overdrive pedals. Some were keepers, and some highly praised pedals were sent packing. Well, I have to admit, I wasn't really expecting anything except the same old thing when I tried out the Barber DD SS.....MAN....was I wrong!! I'm the kinda guy that doesn't rave about much of anything , but this pedal is one of my FAV overdrives EVER!! I just sold of some pedals costing over $200 each, and the DD SS blows them OUT OF THE WATER!! I know I sound like a commercial, but this is one of the few times that I"ve ever been so impressed with a piece of gear, especially an effect.....that I felt compelled to give a review. If you're thinking about this pedal at all, don't hesitate.....buy it now, and you won't want to stop playing your guitar....Great job guys.....this is what an overdrive pedal should sound AND feel like, and it's such an incredible value to boot!! You have a customer for life......
