Repositioning of the adapter jack

Postby RockNote » Fri Jan 28, 2011 11:26 am

Hello Barber people!
I am here to ask if it were possible to have an LTD (either the black standard or SR) with the adapter jack on top, i.e. Boss style, rather than on the right-hand side?
Thank you
Best regards
Anders

I am sorry about my delay in doing this - I had read the rules about equipment prior to posting. So I guess there's no excuse. :D

Currently we do not have a drilling fixture or layout that uses the DC jack "at the top", most quality DC jacks would interfere with the pots due to space, the only option would be smaller pots and hand drill the enclosure, a local tech can do this, or we might be able to do it in the custom shop, but the charge could get fairly hefty as it is "by the hour". I would recommend, finding a plug that can work around any issues you might have with the jack location. I have always felt the quality pots, more direct wiring and larger/stable DC jack were worth the compromise of the side location, it something we have seen many other manufacturers implementing. If we have any future design changes to our general layout, we will include the ideas we have received about form factor.

Thank you, David. What you say makes perfect sense, i.e. allowing no compromise on the quality of the components. I am so happy with my heavy duty Klotz Mathias Jabbs patch cables, but, of course, finding an alternative would be the way to go.
