just messed with the internal pots - love the tweak-ability

I now have:

mids all the way down
bass 2/3 up
presence all the way up
note shape.... well... the Note Shape is WAY MORE subtle than in the small fry for example which can get from tight and fizzy too loose and round - I hardly hear changes with the Note Shape control... the others are as responsive as in the small fry.

all in all the custom cool doesn't color the guitars tone a lot... (it does so but VERY VERY slightly) - which is a nice change from the small fry which does color your tone (well I'd call it an enhancement rather than pure coloration)

with the drive all the way up it's crunchrhythm heaven....

sure is a keeper!

the only thing I'm not too sure about is the tone control...
I think I like the lowpass/hicut filter on the small fry better
easier to tame harsh tones without adding bass at the same time.
I also think that the ccw position of the tone control could be a bit tighter sounding...
(with a lower bandwidth or a lower center frequency)

btw running other dirt pedals into a slighty driven custom cool is REALLY ...erm... well: cool!

Definitly a great pedal. Most tweakable Barber. Crunchy mode has super touch sensitive properties. I could go on and on.... :D

yeah the crunchy mode is quite nice (I still wish there would be another way to activate that stuff - I simply don't like push / pull pots... well at least they're better than push / push pots)

it should also be said that the pedal looks way better than in the official photo (which has an enormous blue cast) (admittedly mine has a yellow cast)

grey is the new sparkly red :!:

sorry if I'm repeating myself here but the Custom Cool is AMAZING.....

I'm just so happy that I got the BarbEQ in a trade which made me check out the other Barber stuff... my tone has never been this good (and that's due to the pedals cause I know that my playing certainly hasn't improved)

thanks to Dave and Ronni for making these awesome pedals.

The only quam I have about the C' Cool is that I don't own it anymore lol. Found myself a dual unLTD though, and super-love it. But the C' Cool is an amazing pedal. On the note shape part though, I heard a great deal of difference with mine, it really changed the low end response. But hey, different ears and such; also different gear.

I heard a huge difference when turning the note shape knob on the small fry... not so on the custom cool though....
I only tried it one day though.... might have been a bad ear day....

The note shape deals with some really deep frequencies, super low wattage amps don't produce deep bass with authority. I would guess with a little more wattage would help. If the amp is producing distortion of its own that would also make pedal controls become homogenized.
