DDSS clip- used for high gain rhythm

(this is an unmastered clip, so crank it WAY up)

this is my katrina relief DDSS driving a Mesa boogie Mark2b 60 watt amp, set for 'crunch' rhythm on the lead channel.

the DDSS tighten up the low end of the rhythms. i'd say vol was unity, tone at noon, drive at about 10:00, with presence trim set centered, mids at 1/4 up, bass at 3/4 up

this one has a combination of miced electric guitar tracks, and directly captured tracks via the Palmer Junction.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I am hearing alot more than just a high gain rhythm new here. The acoustic guitar, back up vocals? The mix is absolutely awesome. Wow! Really 3D. As for the high gain rhythm guitar, it sits in the mix beautifully along with the feedback and stereo image. What did you use for the stereo image? Chorus, delay?

hey plan!

well, of course, this is a full blown mix.

i always feel that listening to guitars, amps and pedals, alone...
just really don't tell you anything.
you've got to hear them in the context of a 'band'.... to know how they translate.
anyway, just my opinion.....

so, yes, everything is recorded in mono, and double tracked, typically, and panned hard left/right.
if you hear it wide, that's because there are 2 main rhythm guitar tracks, one panned hard left, and hard right...
the one that's panned hard left, also is sent to an aux buss with a mono delay, of about 5ms, and hard panned opposite.
then, there are 2 other rhythm guitars that come in and out of the mix depending on the crescendo of the arrangment.

but they ALL are running thru the DDSS......
