Really Quiet Power Supply

I just recently acquired a new amp that is so quiet I'm obsessing a little about noise. At the moment the only 9V adapter I have is a Roland ACR-120, and if I plug it into my Tone Press I get a hum; on battery the pedal is dead quiet. I also have a Hardware RV-7 that is dead quiet until I plug in the adapter, and then I get a hiss but no hum.

What are the options for a really quiet power supply?

If it matters, the amp uses a 54/55 Bassman circuit.

Is it a lightweight switching supply, or the heavier transformer type?

It's the heavier transform type, Roland ACR-120 9V 500mA model D9500.

I've heard conflicting reports about the switching supplies and noise.

The battery is dead quiet? are there other effects not listed? If so, does removing any of them from the chain eliminate the hum?

On battery it is dead quiet, and I'm testing with just the Tone Press.

Boss adapter is plugged into the same outlet as the amp?

Both are plugged into the same surge protector.

No, the only supply I have is the Roland. I am trying to figure out if I need to get something like the Pedal Power 2, or if that would even help.

If you can, take your rig to a local shop and try another supply...before you buy. :D

This is going through an amp, not a recording or mixing rig, right?
