What's this P3 Technology all about?

So I was browsing Fuchs's website (don't know why, can't afford anything there) and came across an interesting phantom-pedal-power technology called "P3." It appears that a TRS signal path is used to carry +9v through the pedalboard along with your guitar signal, thus eliminating the secondary pedal-power cables & adapters. Sounds like a genius idea using existing (translation: ancient) cable & jack technology, but I wonder how it works in practice? (Something tells me the tried-and-true V.L. PP2+ is still the more flexible option, offering variable voltages and isolated outputs and whatnot.)

The website says "AnalogMan, Barber and other pedal specialists are also authorized to install P3 Technology." Now, there's two names that carry a lot of weight on my pedalboard, so I thought I'd ask around here if anybody's used this system? Any thoughts?

It is a phantom power system much like mixing consoles have had for years, this is something I have been lobbying the industry for since 2001, now P3 is set to make an effort of getting phantom power into guitar rigs, I am on board, contributing and wishing P3 the best with their future. The idea has been around for a while, but this could be it's best chance at being advertised and realized to the extent that is needed to make it happen. Jason has the system worked out with power distribution switches on the pedals that help integrate them with your rig.

Pretty cool, David--I just spotted the P3-equipped Direct Drive with in/out power switches in their NAMM/press-release video. Seems like if you could get Mark @ Lava Cable on board (pun not intended) then you'd have another power-player (again, pun not intended) to help get this stuff going mainstream.

I haven't heard mention of this in years. I think it's a great idea and I'm all for it.
