Is the buzz still there when you go, guitar>trifecta>amp on a battery?

I'll pull the Trifecta off my board tonight and try it as you suggest.

I did note no difference in noise (background or other) when running on battery or various power adapters, so I am wondering if maybe the Trifecta just needs to sit elsewhere in my chain. I generally run 10 - 12 pedals on my main board:

Guitar > Sonic Research Turbo Tuner > Tone Press > RGW Bad Bob > RGW Pistol Pete > Zendrive > RGW Dirty Dan > Trifecta > T-Rex Twin Boost > EHX Micro Pog > Line6 RotoMachine > BBE Two Timer > Launch Pad > Amp

The Twin Boost (a two channel EQ pedal), RotoMachine (Leslie) and Micro Pog pedals are not true bypass; all the others are.

Bad Bob is a clean boost, Pistol Pete is a TS808 clone, Dirty Dan is a Red LLama overdrive clone.

The RotoMachine is on its own power supply; the rest are powered by two 500mA power supplies on separate daisy chains.

Ran the Trifecta as you suggested:

Guitar > Trifecta > Amp

Well I'll be d@mned! On battery or wall wart, NO background buzz with the guitar's volume down. I get some noise when I turn the guitar up, but its a Tele, so that's expected. Also, as I crank the Fuzz control there is more hiss introduced, but again, I would call that normal.

So I guess I should just test my pedal chain by adding one device at at time and see who the culprit is putting noise in my audio chain.

Thanks!

Let us know what you find.

It is always good to see Ronni's testing hold up so well...the guy is rather SHARP! ;)

Is this resistor clip mod the only difference between the v1 & v2 trifecta?

No, there is a clipping change too.

Thanks Dave.
So if i wanted to get my V1 up to V2 specs, what would be the best way to do it? Can I do it myself, and if so what are the clipping section mods? I have done pedal mods before. Would it be better to send it to you guys to do the upgrade?
Beau

Locate the final clipping section on the PCB, just below where the twisted wires that are routed to the right of the push/pull pot solder to the PCB (4148 is screened below them), clip or fatigue out the dual 1n4148 diode string (usually right side), replace this diode string with a single 1n34a diode (small bear electronics, or maybe available at ratshack).
