I swapped the 4559 in my Burn Unit EQ for a TL072 and noticed a subtle increase in grind. I dig it, so I haven't gotten around to trying any others. I'd love to hear the TLC2272 in the Burn Unit EQ as well, because that's definitely been a favorite in other op amp pedals I've tried. Anyone have any experience with that?

okay I admit I always thought the OP-AMP stuff was just a myth..... but I just tried it.....

I had the Custom Super Sport dialed in to sound exactly like I wanted..... but the distortion was a bit crumbly..... I wanted it to be a little smoother.... so I thought... "hey your small fry is smooth as hell and it has a JRC4559D inside instead of a JRC4558D - as does your unlimited"

so I opened the unlimited and the super sport and simply exchanged the ICs

now it might be psychoacoustics playing with me but the Super Sport now sounds more round and smooth the distortion is not as crumbly or gritty.... fun...

THANKS FOR SOCKET-ING THE IC's DAVE

just swapped them again to check if my mind didn't fool me.... and recorded a before / after example for each pedal with my looper this time.....

honestly.... I couldn't tell the difference....

guess it's been a psychoacoustic effect after all (I could've sworn it sounded smoother after the first swap.... )

I tried a BB OPA 4228PA in it, and took it back out after a half-hour or so.
