Is this a V2 or SR?

Postby southpaw pete » Wed Sep 08, 2010 1:24 pm

I had owned an LTD v2, traded it, and missed it, so bought another within a few weeks. The new one however seemed to sound different (more transparent), and actually it sounded better than what I had remembered the other one sounding... so I opened it up to see what the difference was.

I set the internal trim pots to the same setting I was used to with my old LTD, and noticed they were not oriented 1/4 off on their placement on the PCB... and that the bass trim was orange (rather than black). Both of those details describe an LTD SR rather than the V2 according to the manuals.

It does say LTD V2 in there, and has black knobs on the outside, so I'm confused. Other than that the chip is a JRC 072BD - not sure if that is the normal stock chip or if it has been swapped.

Might be a normal V2 - but it seems different than my old one.
Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks!
Is that the stock chip in it? And I thought the bass trims were black in the V2, and oriented 1/4 off from the presence. Not that a V2 can't be setup this way - those are just setup different from my last v2, and from what the manuals say.

Yes, that's a "stock" LTD v2.
