What amps are you guys using?

Just curious as to what you are all using to make your Barber pedals shine, feel free to add in all the details if you like!

I'm using a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe I got about a year ago new I tried various tubes and speakers and settled on JJ ECC83S for preamp tubes and JJ 6L6 GC power tubes they seem to keep that amp tight also keeps the highs from tearing your head off, the speaker that I have really loved with that amp is the Eminence Private Jack speaker it sounds great clean and works very nicely with the LTD SR and BC Super Sport its much better than the V30 I have been using.

Very similar to your setup. 91 made in USA Hot Rod Deluxe. JJ preamp tubes, TAD 6l6 power tubes. Eminence Texas Heat speaker. Only use the clean channel. All dirt courtesy of Mr. Barber.

Main amp right now is a Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue, with JJ's from Eurotubes (rebiased up to ~70% max. dissipation) and an Eminence Red White & Blues speaker. I've run all sorts of speakers through the amp (C12K, MOD 12-70, Texas Heat, and Cannabis Rex) but the RW&B gives me the most classic blackface sound.

After reading David's "how to cook a tube amp" article, I realized that the permanent "bright cap" in the DRRI's Vibrato channel was seriously holding back the quality of my stompboxes. (DRRI's Normal channel doesn't have the bright cap, but it also doesn't have the reverb or extra gain stage.) It took a while to take the amp apart and slide out the circuit board, but it was actually very easy to find and de-solder the capacitor. All things considered now--quality tubes, proper bias, quality speaker, and no bright cap--I honestly can't say I've played through a nicer-sounding low-wattage combo. It takes all kinds of pedals extremely well without any harshness and--of course--sounds absolutely beautiful plugged straight-in.

I'm using the amps' in my sig.:o Well, got the same JJ's, 6l6, ecc83s, did a little mod or two on the amps, threw in a couple of webers on top of a few Celestions & a Mojotone. Run a stereo rig with 3 cabs on one side and 2 on the other. Actually, a couple 1x12's serve as side fills for the drummer. I don't gig with all those cabs, just in rehersal. Got Mitchell donuts on all the speakers. They work much better than Beamblockers.

Well...I'm an old Marshall lover. (Toured w/ the Marshall stuff for years w/ the band The Tubes...etc..)

I use almost 100% of the time my ol' Marshall mk2-Plexi - running it jumped and clean. I also have two Marshall JCM 800's (heads) from the 80s....but really, they don't clean up like the Plexi. I did just pick up a Carol Ann JB-100...that is pretty amazing. It seems to my ear- that No matter what amp I use...I get a great sound and tone (running a super clean amp) w/ the Barber boxes.

No matter what I use (Live or Studio) - Barber is my main choice of OD.

Thanks again Dave & Ronni - 8-)

ps- I really need to spend some time to update my sig and links.- :?
Barber Small Fry & DDSS (90's model), T.C. Poly Tune, Morrley A-B-Y, Malekko Omicron Phase, Vox Time machine delay, Delta Lap Chorus, BBE Boosta Grande (old version), Vox wah, Marshall Plexi 1987 x 50 watt head, Marshall 1936 2 x 12 cab, Marshall Class 5, Marshall 1 x 12 cabs, Mod Tele's and vintage Lap Steel's.

That could happen, we have been using the amp for about two years in this configuration...so I guess that means I like it the way it is. I'll probably wait until the economy has improved a little more. :)

Marshall 2002 RIs that have been refitted with Metro boards and Hyborg transformers, rewired to PTP.
A JTM45 30 watt head and a 50 watt 1987 Plexi head, one for chime one for beef!
I like to use a single stereo 4x12 cabinet, fitted with Greenbacks and G1275T's when I can.

More recently... a 2x12 closed back with WGS Invader and Retro 30 speakers.
I like the JTM45 mono and at 16 ohms, speakers wired in series.

I use a variety of amps (tube and solid state/gasp). Over the last couple of weeks
I've been doing quite a bit of tracking using a Vox AC-15TBX (British made, all tube,
with a blue alnico). The combination of the Vox and a Dual Discrete (SR/DDSS) was
extremely musical.
