Small Fry Trimpot Settings?

Postby CalebT » Sun Sep 27, 2009 2:13 am

Hi all,

Does anyone know (i) what the stock internal trimpot settings are for the Small Fry, AND (ii) what settings would make it sound identical to my BUEQ?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Man,

I think they are all tweaked before they leave Barber HQ, so they might be all set differently, but only in tiny adjustments.

On the paper/instructions that come with the pedal, it states "if you get lost, return all internal trims to 12 o'clock".

But having said that, I'm totally lost with mine, all I get is short cut robot clips.

So if you receive some good advice, please let me know too.

Take it easy,
Travis.

Ok, I'll try to explain it.

When used by itself, all I get is short/hard notes coming out with very sharp cut offs, kind of like a robot sound (mechanical) walk on steel. My internal settings are as follows:
Note Shape: 11/12 oclock
Bass: 1 oclock
Mids 11oclock
Presence: 11 oclock
I play around with the Tone, Dynamics & still nothing else will come out, except what I've discribed as above. Even when I use the Burn, I can't get past 9 oclock, other wise my signal gets out of control, with the above sound becoming even worse, causing very little shape to my signal coming out of my amp.

So I'm not too sure what to do anymore ??????????????????????? :?

Hey David,

Do you mean ? Is it on the pedal ? If so, what does that look like ?

Travis.

Hey Travis, check out this page: http://barberelectronics.com/opamps.htm.

You should be able to purchase one at your local Radio Shack or electronics store for about $4 or so. The Small Fry comes with a JRC 4559D stock I believe.

Funny this stuff shows up on a forum and not a phone call.. The Small Fry should not sound like a Robot.

How long has this gone on?

Then a bunch of studio stuff.

That sounds like the type of noise you might hear from a dying battery, get a verified 9 volt battery in there, or a verified 9 volt DC negative tip supply before we go any further. Remember the LED is an on/off indicator, and in no way indicated battery life. The LED will still be bright even when the units is producing "robot noises" from a low battery...No fair checking with your tongue, unless you just dig the taste. :D

I thought I should check back on this thread, it's been six days, was this a dead battery?
