New to Barber stuff, just got a Direct Drive LG...

Postby big jilm » Thu Jan 21, 2010 4:05 pm

Man, this sound is very close to the one on my head, through my rig. I bought the DDLG used, to replace my Boss Blues Driver. My Marshall tones had been coming from an MI Audio Crunchbox, and I bump it with the Blues Driver for solos. I tried this DDLG at rehersal yesterday - crap! My Crunchbox is off the board! This pedal smoked my CB for Marshall tones! Absolutely killer tone. I maxed the gain, and love the tone! My question is this - does the regular Direct Drive sound this good, this 'open' just with more gain on tap? If so I think I want to try running both DD's together. What does the regular DD sound like compared to the DDLG?

Mr. Barber, I have been playing over 20 years, and this is the finest pedal I have ever used. Amazing!

Thanks!! :D

I think the Super Sport has the best shot of going the extra degree of gain, while dialing in the tone you are after.

The SS, then? Does the SS have that 'Marshallesque' tone that the DD LG has in spades? Man - stoked about my tone! If the SS has that sound, it's my next purchase for sure - and the poor once loved Crunchbox will go into the gig bag for a backup!

I think the Super Sport is British stack all the way! Ronni who builds them might have some clips in context you can check out.
