Tone Press stopped working, very low output

Postby lordriffenstein » Wed Jun 16, 2010 12:40 pm

I have a TP that I´ve been using for years and it has been sitting in my rack for the past 5 years and always performed flawlessly.
I am making some changes to the rack, the pedals are in a looper, and rewired the rack shelf today. I only unplugged the TP (audio and power) and didn´t even move it on the shelf.

Now, the TP only gives a very low output, it still works and if I turn up the blend and sustain, I can hear the compression but there´s hardly any output even with the volume cranked. I´m powering it with a VL PP2 and the light is on as it should.

I tried different cables, I tried powering it with a battery etc but nothing changed. I used compressed air to clean out the inside of the pedal (hasn´t been opened in years) and the pots. I tested the loop with another pedal and that worked so it comes down to the pedal not functioning the way it should.

Is there anything I can try to get it fixed?

Thanks for the quick response!

That´s the only thing I did not try, how could I forget?

The good news is, the pedal works fine this way. It only has the problem in the looper I am using. I tried putting a buffer before the pedal in the same loop, although the signal is already buffered before it hits the pedal, but no dice. Then I added the buffer AFTER the TP in the same loop and it worked fine!.

So the output is getting loaded down by the return from the looper. Never had this happen before. Is there a solution other than adding the buffer after the pedal?
