Tone Pump Resistor Question

Postby hamerman » Sun Nov 28, 2010 12:06 am

I had a question about the pull-pot for the asymmetric clipping on the red circuit of the Tone Pump. When I engage the asymmetric clipping, there is a volume loss that I need to make up by increasing the volume. I noticed that the back of the pot has a resistor connected across two leads. Is this the reason why there is a volume loss? If so, can it be removed? Thanks for any advice.

That resistor allows the drive pot to turn the drive up and down, if you remove it you will have full gain 24/7. The volume loss is due to the voltage change introduced by the diode that makes the channel asymmetric.

Thanks Dave. I've been falling in love with my Tone Pump lately, and just wondered.
