adjusting trimpots

Postby Andy cowman » Mon Dec 20, 2010 3:58 am

This may seem like a stupid question but when ive adjusted trimpots ive always disconnected the pedal from the powersupply and guitar leads, adjusted the pots and connected it all back up. Theres always something playing in the back of my mind saying I shouldnt be tweaking the internals when the pedals connected to the power supply. Is it ok to do it whilst the pedals connected up?

I've done it while my pedals were plugged. No harm done. ;)

Yeah, that's how you can hear the adjustment on the fly.

I thought it must be ok to do it like that, I just was a bit unsure about tweaking whilst having it connected to the mains.
I can electrocute myself changing a light bulb!

You can adjust the trim pots with the unit on and connected to power, please refrain from licking the diodes, they do not taste good when the unit is turned on. :D

Although-- I have it on good authority, from the geeks over at The Gear Page, that the NOS Germanium diodes from the 1960's taste WAAAY better than the current-production ones.
