LTD Question

Postby Telegator » Sun Feb 27, 2011 3:50 pm

Hey, brand new to the forum but it has come at the right time. I am building a board that has 3 stages of gain following and FX Compressor - AC Booster - ??? - Direct Drive. I have been researching the web and have narrowed it down to 2 pedals - JHS Morning glory and a LTD. I need a really low gain pedal with just a bit more than the AC booster but not as much as a "tube Screamer". My main distortion will come from the DD. When searching the web on the LTD most reviews demo it with the gain up - ala Gearmandude. I need it sound as clean as possible. Will the lower volumes of the LTD obtain this, no fuzziness and a smooth sound? If so which model of the LTD would best suit my needs - playing a stat or tele through a Pro Junior.

thanks and I look forward to learning more about Barber pedals...I love my Direct Drive.

Have you thought about a direct drive low gain? I use mine for exactly the same purpose I find it coveres similar ground to the ltd at low gain settings but is a lot more flexible.

Thanks for the info. Will it clean up enough like the Jimi/Axis demo of the LTD (on the Barber sound page)? That's the sound I am after.

Ltd's will do low gain with no fuzziness and smooth. That's what they do best! Which one? That depends on you. Does your clean, base tone needs a fat jump, then go with the standard LTD. If your base tone is the cats meow and you want no alteration to it...then get the LTDsr. If you want mid control on the fly then the 1/2 gainer fills that bill. If you want a superman LTD, then the Custom cool is your ticket.
