1st post, and a Trifecta question

Postby djw » Thu May 12, 2011 12:13 am

Hi there Barber peeps.

New to the forum, but I've been a Barber enthusiast for the past few years (with some guidance by Plan-x -- what's up bro???) I have 7 Barbers, the two most recent of which are an LTD SR and a Trifecta. Yee Haw! I'm happy as a clam.

Got a question about the Trifecta: I hear there's a v.1 and a v.2 of this amazing stomper... is there an easy way to tell which mine is? It's brand new so I'm assuming it's a v.2., but I'm curious and also partly just making conversation.

Dude! You got some serious gear. Plus 7 Barbers! Whoa! :o I can't remember what that Trifecta V1 vs V2 is off the top of my head. It's a minor thing though that can be modded by a hobbiest as I recall. Stay tuned. :D

First, WELCOME!

v2 should be written on the box that the Trifecta came packed in...otherwise I will need a clear pic of your PCB, no fair using a cell phone pic! :o

Thanks for including you equipment sig! I can't tell you how many people ignore the forum rules...very nice! :D

Of course! The box. It's locked up in the garage, I'll check it out later. And yeah, David, I managed to spot a post where you'd commended someone for doing the sig thing... so I made sure to do it myself. :)

Yeah John, I do have some schtuff... and yeah, I'm a total Barber fanboi now. Amazing pedals, dude! Where have they been all my life??? The older gear is leftover from my (almost) rock star days, like my Marshall and that Fender (it's a real 65 too, not a RI) and those older MIJ Boss and Ibanez pedals. I also have my original WF RAT and a scratchy old Big Muff Pi that I used to torture my JCM with. I rarely get rid of anything, though I have sold some pedals here and there...

...The most recent pedal sale I made, actually, was a fairly popular Octavia/Fuzz that I'd had high hopes for, but could not get comfortable with (plus it took up too much room on my already too-crowded board). The fuzz was really harsh to my ears and incongruent with my un-fuzzed tones -- I know, that's partly the point, but I'm not a member of the "fuzz cult" at this juncture and really just wanted a more retro-sounding fuzz to go with my other retro-sounding effects (I play mostly funk/old school r&b, some classic rock now and then).

Anyway, I've had this slot on my board just begging for a good fuzz or SOMEthing different to contrast my LSC's OD... the Trifecta fits the bill perfectly. It actually might make a fuzz cultist out of me.

Thanks, ringmod!

So, hey, I just looked at the box... and I don't see anything about v1 or v2 on it. I'll try to take a pic of the board at some point. So I'm assuming this is probably a v1??? Wacky. Sounds great anyway.
