Will I like the Tone Press?

Postby Jon » Tue Jan 17, 2012 8:50 am

I like the general smoothing out and sustain that a compressor gives, but I really don't like the squash you get on the attack of the note. For me it's a bit like trying to hit a bell with a hammer but then putting a cushion between the hammer & bell. Does the blend control on the Tone Press allow you to take advantage of what a compressor does after the initial attack without that first squash? I realise that, to some extent this is part and parcel of compression, but heavy overdrive adds compression without the spongey feel to the initial attack, so is what I want out of a compressor possible, and does the Tone Press do this?

Yes the Tone Press does exactly what you describe in blending out the attack and squash. The clean blend is what comes through at first then the sustaining compressed sound is there continually (if desired) as the clean fades away. Because of this feature, this pedal is the only pedal that remains on my board through out the test of time.

Yes I think you will be quite pleased with the Tone Press. It can do exactly what you are describing. Of course it can also do the squash thing if you want it to.
