Burn Unit Knobs

Postby strat56 » Sat Jan 21, 2012 9:21 pm

I recently picked up a Burn Unit in a trade and really like it but I'm having difficulty remembering which set of knobs is for which channel (might be old age creeping up on me :D ). Is there some place I can buy red and green knobs to replace the black ones so I can remember which set of controls is active when the red light is on vs. when just the green light is on?
Thanks,
Jack

The center knobs are shared by both channels, that's the easy part! :D

Check out Small Bear Electronics, they have lots of knobs on their stock list.

Here is the knob page for some of the knobs that fit nicely:

I swapped out the Dirt knob on the "lighted channel" when on. With an orange Davies Clone From here: (also did the same on my 1/2 Gainer, and Dual UNLTD)

cheapest place I've found to order a small qty of knobs and nothing else due to low shipping rates, etc.
Gibson SG, Les Paul Deluxe, Turbo Tuner > BYOC Opto Comp > Micro Pog > Micro Vibe > Half-Gainer > Dual Unlimited > Burn Unit EQ > EH Freeze > Chubacrabra > King of Tone > Box of Rock > Ethos Overdrive > Empress Tremolo > Boss DD-20 > Hardwire RV-7 reverb > JamMan > Radial JDI MK4 (Small Fry, BYOC Triangles, ESV Fuzz, PODHD) Lava Soar and EA Lyric HG

I like your idea of putting different color knobs to help you remember what's what. I've thought about doing that with my Launch Pad.

I've switched out lots of perfectly good 'stock' knobs in my day... half of the time it's for cosmetics, and the other half for better control. What's odd is that, while I don't mind the Davies #1510 knobs on the Barber 3-knob pedals, I've pretty much replaced them on most other pedals I have. If anyone's interested, Mammoth Electronics, Small Bear, and Pedal Parts Plus all have knobs that fit the Barber stuff. [I am not affiliated with any of them.]

PS. David, if you're reading this.. Mammoth has some nice colored knobs same as what you put on the D.Bomb, Trifecta, & Small Fry. I do like those knobs; they conserve real-estate and are easy to make fine changes with. White looks fantastic on the S.F., and I'm hoping to put cream ones on my Trifecta soon. I'll post a pic when I get 'em on there.
