Postby Rambler » Sun Jun 17, 2012 10:14 am

Hi i am new at the Forum.

I just bought a Barber LTD and I am more then happy with it. One of the best overdrive pedal I evert played. And I ve played a lot .....
If I should buy another Barber in same style as the LTD but with medium/highgain (not metal..) what would you recommend?

Ok thanks!

To my ears the Direct Drive sound more like a tubescreamer.
How would you discribe the Small Fry? Does it have more gain than the Direct Drive?

The Small Fry has nearly the same gain range as the Direct Drive. The small fry has more controls and is even more versatile than the Direct Drive due to internal trim pots and a three way toggle. I'd say the Small Fry has less of a Tube Screamer vibe than the Direct Drive.

The LTD might be the the best match for your Vox, those ac15c1 amps are bright and don't have much bottom, so full range pedals seem to work best unless you are using lots of volume. I have a AC15c1 and Like the 1/2 Gainer and unLimTeD best with it.

Yes my LTD sounds great with my ac15! I have ordered a ac30c2 and I am looking forward to try it out with the LTD.
Maybe my next pedal should be the Dual Unlimited, Is it like The LTD V2 but with more gain? How much more?

Moving up the gain ladder can get a little fizzy with Vox amps, did you remove the bright caps? The unLimiTeD starts where the LTD leaves off and has almost as much gain as the Direct drive.

I use the tonecut to keep away from the fizzy sounds, I have been running highgain overdrives with it and i think it works fine to my ears. Maybe I go with Unlimited anyway. Thanks for all your help!
