(frequency wise) wonder if the different timbre is due to the JRC4558 used in the GainChanger (instead of the 4559 used in the unlimited) or if it's due to the different components. can't comment on the LTD side, since I never had an LTD (in any shape or form). the Gain Changer sounds a bit bigger and bolder, the unlimited is a tiny bit throatier.

I also found a rogue piece of wire inside the pedal when I opened it. but no harm no foul... as I said... lovely pedal.

the price / performance ratio is second to none.... amazingly inexpensive for what you get!

It looks nice next to that Timmy!

Every once in a while you get a free snip of insulation that decides to go along for a ride. We try to get every one of those snips out before they ship. If you send me the initials and serial I promise to yell at the builder a little. :D

btw.... since I can't speak schematic:

may I ask what the difference is between selecting the low-gain mode of the Gain Changer and turning down the gain knob whilst in the high-gain mode?

Used my Gain Changer last night with my band and it worked great, normally I would just use this type of pedal for lower gain tones but since it was the only dirt pedal on my board I had to use it for the some of the harder rock tunes, kept it in the Unlimited mode and EQ center position most of the night.
It actually pulled it off very nicely it had just enough grind to get me through the hard rock, I will have my new DD today so that will be dedicated for the higher gain tones and the GC has all the low gain tones so this should be a great and versatile combo!.

Colors

Postby RockNote » Wed Apr 03, 2013 10:14 pm

I recall seeing a picture - perhaps of the new DD - in black, bright green and racing green. I was wondering what the plans are in terms of color options for the GC: Will it be available only in white for a while to come? Bright green or black would be great options, I think.

We don't have any custom colors planned at the moment. The GC is so new that keeping up with orders is the prime concern, custom colors would complicate stocking for dealers and building of weekly stock. Down the road when things naturally slow down? who knows?

The colors you saw ere of the Compact Direct Drive when we were selection the color, we had a few prototypes of different colors to work with.

Thanks very much for the quick reply, David! I expect to order one soon.
