Launchpad tone and compression

Postby ochaye » Wed Aug 12, 2009 2:56 pm

hi
i was thinking of adding the LP to my collection of Barber pedals. i am in need of a CLEAN boost for my ODs but the lack of tone controls on the LP concerns me.
i would have the LP placed just AFTER my ODs...is there any colouration to the sound with the boost engaged?....

and is there any/much compression when using the boost in this manner?as you can probably guess i am looking for a boost that is faithfull to my OD signal whilst remaining as unconpressed as possible.

thanks.john

No compression and no coloration, although, now your output cable will not roll off treble freqs, some people erroneously call this adding highs.

i will have a go at "getting"your reply,

whilst the LP boost function is engaged any attempt at reducing the treble content with my guitar controls will be limited?

The output of the LP is low impedance, so the cable which would normally have enough capacitance to roll of audible highs, will be much less able to inflict this usually unwanted effect. Your "go" was not correct, your tone control will function perfectly.
