Vintage Amp and The Launch Pad Question

Postby Hugh » Thu Aug 27, 2009 3:00 am

Hi Barber family :D
Ok, new here and new to Barber products. (I'll post a link to sound clips as requested soon) I own a Launch pad and a Direct Drive LG. Very happy with them. I've been out of the music biz for 20 years. Got married, and kept an acoustic around the house. Kids are grown and out on their own, and the better half has told me to get back out there and play. yada, yada....

Anyhow, I've acquired an old Sano amp. Not a very well known amp, so I'll describe it. Dual chassis, point to point hand wired. Ten tubes total. Two EL34's w/a rectifier tube. Three channels. One is "stereophonic" w/a TRS jack. It was intended primarily for an accordion. Very clean channel that allows use of the tremolo and reverb. No gain or volume control. It will work fine with a mono cable plugged in.

It also has a guitar channel and an instrument channel, both with volume/gain control pots. The guitar channel will get dirty, but not too much. The instrument channel is a lower gain channel, but will get a tad dirty if I dime the volume. The amp was not designed to to utilize the tremolo and reverb on those channels. That may prove to be a blessing. I can have a "wet" channel and a "dry" channel running parallel.

I know the Launch Pad will allow me to run two channels and allow switching between two, but what about setting up the option of running all three or a combination of any two I choose ? What options do I have ? Would I need a separate a/b box or two ? A second Launch Pad ?

Could you make the question clearer? I'm not exactly sure what you trying to accomplish.

Hi, I just want to have the option of running any two of the three channels parallel, or even all three at once.

The Launch Pad has two outputs, one is in phase, one is out of phase, each has a volume control. Do you know the phase of the different channels?

No sir, I'm not familiar enough with amps to determine that. I may have to just take the amp to a tech and let him determine what it's capable of.

here is the schematic
